Chevron Amethyst like Amethyst is the “Sober Stone“, and is also known as “Banded Amethyst” or “Dogtooth Amethyst”. It is named for its white bands running through the Amethyst, sometimes in a “V” or chevron shape; the name Amethyst comes from the Biblical Greek word “amethysthos”.

Chevron Amethyst is a common crystal found wherever Amethyst is found but particularly in Africa, Brazil, and India; it may also be found in America, Canada, Madagascar, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Russia, Sri Lanka and Uruguay. It is a Silicon Dioxide of the silicates class of crystals and is a combination of Amethyst and White Quartz. It comes in various shades of purple and white and is partially translucent.

Chevron Amethyst helps enhance intuition and psychic connections, to remove resistance to change and to repel negativity of all kinds. It is a really good crystal to use if you need to cleanse, clear and strengthen your aura; particularly if you have been subjected to a psychic attack. It is a powerful protection crystal and is said to be capable of creating a bubble around the carrier to ward off any negative energy or psychic attacks.

As it is combined with White Quartz it has the same amplifying powers that Quartz alone has. Like Amethyst, it will help with addictive tendencies such as alcohol, drugs, relationships and eating disorders such as Anorexia. It is not only helpful in a creative situation but will also afford you the discipline and willpower to finish a project or follow through with plans.

It is said to be a good luck crystal too allowing you to find or be introduced to new opportunities to increase your income or meet new people to expand your circle of clients or customers; it works well as an amplifier in a manifestation crystal grid. This crystal also holds the powerful violet flame and the brilliant white light which means that it will assist you in transmuting any form of negativity.

Again, Chevron Amethyst is not mentioned in any myths or legends but Amethyst was worn around the neck of Egyptian luminaries when they travelled away from their major cities as an amulet of protection. It is also one of the twelve precious gems of the Breastplate of the High Priest and is the Bishop’s Stone and is still worn on the second finger of the right hand of a Catholic bishop.
