Protective Amulet

Chiastolite, the “Fairy Cross”; is also known as “Crucite” “Cross Stone” and “Chyastolith”. The name Chiastolite comes from the Greek word “chiastos” meaning “crucified” or “cross marked/formed”. Chiastolite is a commonly found crystal predominantly from America, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Russia and Sri Lanka.

It is a variety of Andalusite; an Aluminium Silicate with Graphite inclusions of the silicates class of crystals. It is light brown in colour with the cross section being off white with a black diagonal cross shape and is translucent to opaque in appearance. There is a less common version of Chiastolite found in Australia that is black in colour with a green cross.

Chiastolite has been known about and used for centuries and was valued for its perceived religious or spiritual meaning. It can be used as a protective crystal as it is said to deflect negative energy rather than absorbing it as many crystals do. Traditionally, it was used to ward off the evil eye or curses and to give strength, power and perseverance to its user. It was used as an amulet of protection whilst travelling, especially in foreign climes.

Chiastolite can help improve your intuition and psychic abilities and can be used to stimulate astral travel and remote viewing capabilities. It encourages creative thinking, analysis and problem-solving by getting rid of old thought patterns that can prevent you from moving forward. It can also help with the acceptance of dying, death and rebirth and or life beyond death.

In ancient China, where it is said to originate from, it was a symbol of the four cardinal points (north, south, east and west), and in Feng Shui was placed in the centre of the home to radiate chi energy outwards to bring in health and harmony.

Soothing Anxiety

Chiastolite is not associated with any particular Goddess. However, Coatlicue is the Aztec Goddess of Life, Death and Rebirth so it could be used to call on her help in those situations.

Chiastolite is not associated with any particular Angel. However, Archangel Azrael whose name means “Whom God Helps” and who is the Angel of Comfort and Grief, has the primary role of crossing people over to heaven at the time of physical death. He comforts them prior to their physical death, ensures they do not suffer during death and helps them to assimilate on the other side.

Chiastolite is primarily associated with the Sacral Chakra (Svadhistana), relating to creativity, sensuality, sexuality and desire for pleasure. Its secondary Chakra is the Base (Root) Chakra (Muladhara), relating to survival and security. Use it to energise these chakras and to repair any damage in the auric field.

In crystal healing, Chiastolite is said to help with symptoms relating to the following illnesses and areas of the body: blood circulation, blood pressure, bones and teeth, cellular disorders, cerebral vascular accidents (CVA, stroke), connective tissue, gout, muscle pain and weakness, nerve damage, paralysis, rheumatism and stimulate lactation in nursing mothers. When placed on the body, it sends heat where it is needed.

Emotionally, Chiastolite is said to assist with anxiety and fear, creativity and creative expression, depression, dispel or release negativity, harmony and stress. It is reported to be helpful for the dying to remove any fear of death or dying as they approach their time to return to spirit. On a spiritual level, it offers psychic protection and astral travel.

Chiastolite is not a traditional or ancient birthstone but is a modern birthstone for the Zodiac sign of Libra 23rd September to the 22nd October.

Chiastolite is not on the anniversary list.

Important to Know

For crystal healers who use crystals in their work, they should be cleansed after each client to remove any negative energy prior to being used on someone else.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Although the powers of crystals and stones are well documented and have been proven to help bring positivity into people's lives, they are never a substitute for medical advice.
