Nature & Elementals

Chrysoprase the “Stone of Venus” and “The Receiver” is also known as “Prase” “Green Chalcedony” and “Imperial Chrysoprase”. The name Chrysoprase comes from the Greek “chrysó prása” meaning “golden leek”. Chrysoprase is a common crystal found in America, Brazil, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania, Western Australia and Zimbabwe with the highest quality crystals found in Queensland which is always referred to as Australian Chrysoprase.

It is a Silicon Dioxide with Nickel Inclusions of the silicates class of crystals. It comes in various shades of yellow and green and is translucent to opaque in appearance. The colour depends on the level of Nickel present in each piece.

Chrysoprase is renowned for bringing hope in times of need, for breaking negative cycles and releasing anger, fear and bitterness. It is particularly helpful for working on inner child issues by releasing emotions locked in from childhood. It can help you see where selfish actions have impacted on personal development whilst allowing you to accept yourself as you are and help with forgiveness and compassion to yourself and others.

It is also another crystal that can help with sleep issues if placed under your pillow with the added bonus of assisting healing whilst you sleep as well as recuperation from illness. As with many green crystals, Chrysoprase attracts prosperity, abundance and success in new ventures into your life.

It can also attract new love as it helps in repairing the pain of a broken heart by improving self-esteem. Chrysoprase is associated with Gaia, the Greek Goddess of the Earth and Nature, nature and nature spirits, and, therefore, should be used when working with nature energy or with Elementals.

Chrysoprase has been known for thousands of years, but only appears to have been used for talismanic or healing purposes since the Middle Ages; when it was engraved with the image of a bull to give strength and protection to the wearer. It is mentioned in the Bible by John the Apostle and is listed as the tenth foundation stone of the New Jerusalem in the Book of Revelations. It was used by the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians to make seals, signets, jewellery and other ornamental objects.

Soothing Anxiety

Chrysoprase is associated with the Goddesses Vesta, the Roman Goddess of Fire and the Hearth, and Aphrodite (Venus), the Greek (Roman) Goddess of Love, who also represents a sense of justice and whose sacred colour is green.

Chrysoprase is not associated with any particular Angel. However Archangel Raphael, the Angel of Healing and Abundance, is associated with bright green and, therefore, you could use Chrysoprase to call him in; particularly, as it is said to speed up the healing of wounds.

Chrysoprase is primarily associated with the Heart Chakra (Anahata) relating to love and compassion. Its secondary Chakra is the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) relating to our identity and our power in this world. It is particularly helpful to hold this crystal over the chakra you wish it to work on.

In crystal healing, Chrysoprase is said to help with symptoms relating to the following illnesses and areas of the body: dermatitis, detoxification, digestion, digestive system, eczema, epilepsy, eyes, gout, heart, hormonal balance, infertility, kidneys and liver, support the immune system and has been suggested as a crystal for the elimination of toxins and heavy metals from the body.

Emotionally, Chrysoprase is said to assist with anxiety, calming anger, co-dependence, compassion, compromise, depression, emotional balance, forgiveness, happiness, heartache, honesty, hope, joy, love, loss, positive energy, self-confidence and self-worth. Spiritually it helps with connecting with the inner child, humility, insight, meditation and selflessness.

It has been suggested that in cases of possession or attachments, it is able to weaken the entities in order for them to be more easily cast out or to leave of their own accord.

Chrysoprase is not a traditional or ancient birthstone but is a modern birthstone for the Zodiac sign of Libra 23rd September to 22nd October. Chrysoprase is not on the anniversary list.

Meditation

Chrysoprase is a perfect crystal for meditating with to induce a deep meditative state and to initiate inner growth and to work on inner child issues.

Affirmation: I am releasing anger, fear and bitterness.

Important to Know

WARNING: As with all crystals you use regularly, don’t forget to cleanse and recharge it at least once a month.

For crystal healers who use crystals in their work, they should be cleansed after each client to remove any negative energy prior to being used on someone else.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Although the powers of crystals and stones are well documented and have been proven to help bring positivity into people's lives, they are never a substitute for medical advice.
