Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello beautiful friends,

Happy Valentine to you! I'm hoping you've got something nice planned for today, regardless of whether you have a partner or not. Valentine is all about celebrating love and romance, and you can do it together, of course, but you can also - and that is most important as an act of self-love and self-care - do it with and for yourself. Combining both is, of course, another option. And it certainly doesn't have to be confined to a single day of the year, right?

So here is a little inspiration of what you can do for yourself to feel special and romantic all on your own:

Have a romantic bath. You can add ingredients, such as...

  • Epsom salt, which is great to get rid of stressful and negative energies that often accumulate in daily life.

  • Fresh or dried rose petals and/or rose essential oil. If you don't want to pick out the petals individually from the water after your bath, you can always stick them into a tea bag. Those that you can fill yourself are available in major online stores.

  • Milk or cream. Yes, they leave a bit of a film, but especially if you have dry skin like my middle daughter, cream works wonders for a smooth skin.

  • Honey. Another good one. It dissolves in warm water and is a natural agent to soothe inflamed skin, also good for many types of dermatitis. My youngest has sensitive skin like that and we try to find natural solutions for her skin as much as possible.

On top of that, make sure you set the stage. Take a little time to select romantic music you love. Make a playlist. Place candles and roses or other flowers around the bathroom. You can also strew some petals on surfaces and anoint candles with rose essential oil. Alternatively, add some of that oil to your diffuser, so the bathroom air takes on that lovely scent. (As always, make sure that electrical devices are well insulated from any sources of water! You don't want to electrocute yourself!!!)

When you come out of the bath, work some special body lotion into your skin. If you add a drop of essential oil that is safe to use on skin like that, you'll have that special luxurious feeling. Take your time to feel your body, commune with it, treat is with love, make everything sensual.

Have a candlelight dinner. Whether with your partner or on your own, make it special. If you don't go out, cook a special meal that has some "love ingredients." Depending on your dietary habits, these can look different, so take a little time to search online for foods, spices and herbs that can spice up a meal in the romantic sense and fuel passion and love.

As you prepare the meal, think loving thoughts, think about how much love energy this meal is going to nourish your body with, how healthy it is, send love to it from your heart and mind, and know that you will consume this love as you eat the food, making it part of your being (and that of your partner if it's not just for you).

Play romantic music as you sit down to eat, be present with the food. We tend to watch TV or have our minds occupied in a different way during meals very often. But try to really sit with the food, taste it, be mindful of every bite and receive it into your body with the love you prepared it with. Be grateful and thank yourself for taking such good care of you.

After the meal, if you're not too full, you might want to dance, make some sexy moves, revel in the sensual, passionate feel of your body, your mind and your heart. And then you can take out those toys, light some candles in the bedroom and take it to the sheets.

Take it slow, caress yourself. The average person has approximately 7 square meters of skin. It's our biggest sensitive organ and we so often forget about that. Take your time to connect with your body, explore it, starting by using your fingers, feathers, pearls, etc, and observe the sensations. Which ones do you like best? Which parts of your skin/body are more sensitive than others? Do you prefer a lighter or firmer touch? Do you like to go all in from the start, or begin gentle and rev it up as you go along?

Do you like to listen to music or have it quiet? What about listening to your favourite scenes from a romantic audiobook? Some women prefer running slideshows of aesthetically pleasing, romantic pictures, some like portraits or upper body shots of their favourite male models, celebrities, etc. Others like pics or videos of couples, romantic, passionate, kinky...

What works best for you? Don't judge yourself. If you like pictures of men dominating a woman, even if, perhaps, you wouldn't want to act that out in real life, if that's what turns you on to see, make a playlist of those for a slideshow. It's your mind, your fantasy, your heart, your body, your pleasure!

What turns you on?
