Purity

Snow Quartz, “Purity of Thought“ and “Stone of Good Luck”, is also known as “Milky Quartz”, “Quartzite” and “White Quartz”. It is named for its white, sometimes icy-looking appearance, resembling snow.

Snow Quartz is a fairly common crystal found all over the world but particularly in America, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Madagascar, Mexico and Switzerland. It is a Silicon Dioxide of the silicates class of crystals and is a form of Clear Quartz. It is white in colour and can be either opaque or translucent in appearance.

Snow Quartz is seen as the feminine version of the masculine Clear Quartz; and will amplify the energy of other healing crystals but in a more gentle way. It brings clarity, concentration and understanding whilst studying as well as helping to let go of self-limiting behaviour and beliefs. It brings calmness to times of mental stress and helps with finding tactful ways of communicating with others. It can help see the world through the eyes of a child and get that same sense of wonderment.

It is said to help support the user whilst they are going through difficult life lessons in order to overcome feelings of victimhood. It is known as a stone of good luck and will help to dispel negativity and heighten intuition. It can also be used as an amulet of protection whilst making journeys through snow.

Native Americans who used the Moon to track the seasons attributed the snowy white quartz to the Snow Moon which is the full moon of February when the heaviest snowfalls were typically experienced. The Siberian Shamans used Quartz for divination and contact with the spirit world but there was a popular belief that this crystal was made from solidified ice and, therefore, was used to cool the body and as a means to break a fever. As Snow Quartz, which is as abundant as Clear Quartz, resembled snow, this too could have been used for the same purposes.

Divine Feminine Energies

Snow Quartz honours Allat, the Arabian Moon Goddess, an ancient mother and fertility Goddess. She forms a triple goddess with Al-Uzza, Goddess of the Morning Star, and Manat, Goddess of Fate and Time.

Snow Quartz is not connected with any particular Angel but can be used to connect to Archangel Haniel whose name means "Glory of God" and whose aura is bluish-white like the glow of the moon.

Snow Quartz is primarily associated with the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara), relating to spiritual connection, understanding and enlightenment. Its secondary chakras are all of the other chakras. It will help open and clear the whole chakric column, thus allowing for the free flow of energy throughout the energy fields.

In crystal healing, Snow Quartz is said to help with illnesses and symptoms relating to bone disorders, bone marrow, breast health, dental pain and problems, headaches, immune system, lactation, menopausal symptoms, pituitary gland, pineal gland, radiation and sunburnt skin. It is also reported to assist the absorption of minerals, nutrients and vitamins, particularly calcium.

Emotionally, Snow Quartz is said to assist with abundance, clarity, joy, luck, peace, prosperity, and to see the wonder in the world.

Snow Quartz is not a traditional birthstone but is a natural birthstone for the Zodiac sign of Capricorn (22nd December - 19th January). It is not on the anniversary list.
