Acceptance & Transformation

Stromatolite is the “Stone of Acceptance” and “Stone of Transformation”. The name Stromatolite derives from the Greek word “strōma” meaning "layer or stratum”. Stromatolite is a common crystal found in America, Australia, Madagascar, Peru and Russia.

It is a silicified organic carbonate material of the Mineraloid class of crystals; put simply it’s the fossilised remains of a microorganism which is known as cyanobacteria (blue-green algae).

Cyanobacteria were essential to evolution on Earth over 3.5 billion years ago, it is an extinct group of marine invertebrates where the organic matter has been replaced by quartz in a process that takes a hundred years or more; similar to that of Fossil Wood.

It comes in various shades of brown or tan with dark brown or black markings; in some cases, it is a green-blue colour with blue-toned markings and it is opaque. Stromatolites have layers of banding or swirls through them caused by the trapping and binding of sedimentary grains by the microorganisms.

Stromatolite is a powerful transformation stone which has a patient, steady energy which helps the user to understand the purpose of life’s lessons and to see these lessons as aids to personal growth and development. It can help release outdated ancestral programming which makes you conform to someone else’s wishes.

It is extremely strong in Earth energy; the energy of growth, expansion, new beginnings and health. Working with this crystal will help the user to “go with the flow” and to accept others for who they are, to live authentically in order to move forward and release the binds of past negativity.

It has a grounding energy and helps cleanse the surrounding energy in any environment into which it is placed. Cyanobacteria knew how to make life where there was none before and therefore gives the user the power to forge a new life for themselves free of anxiety, past trauma and doubt.

Stromatolite is associated with the Goddess Gaia, the Greek Earth Mother, and also Dione, the Phoenician Earth Goddess.

Ancient Information

Stromatolite is not associated with any particular Angel; however, the colour brown is associated with Archangel Barachiel (Barakiel) who is the ruler of Earth and lightning and also of blessings and abundance. He is associated with the month of February and the Zodiac sign Pisces.

Stromatolite is primarily associated with the Base (Root) Chakra (Muladhara), relating to survival and security. Its secondary Chakra is the Heart Chakra (Anahata), relating to love and compassion. Due to its powerful Earth energy, it also works well with the Earth Star Chakra, gently removing blockages from all of the meridians and chakras.

In crystal healing, Stromatolite is said to help with illnesses and symptoms relating to the bladder, blood, brain stem, degenerative bone disease, fluid regulation, kidneys, lymph, strengthens teeth, throat, thymus, vision and disorders of the hands, feet and skeletal system.

Emotionally, Stromatolite is said to assist with adaptation to situations, anxiety, doubt, emotional stress, fear past trauma. It helps the user to leave behind old thoughts and ways of doing things in order to move forward.

Spiritually, it assists in connecting with ancient information and past-life regression as well as helping to strengthen the aura.

Stromatolite is not a traditional, ancient birthstone or modern birthstone for any of the Zodiac signs. Stromatolite is not on the anniversary list.
