Vision

Unakite, the “Stone of Vision”, is also sometimes known as “Epidotised Granite” or “Unakite Jasper” in its darker red version. It was first discovered and named after the Unaka Mountain range. These mountains form part of the Appalachian Mountain range in North Carolina in the USA. Unakite is a commonly found crystal predominantly from America and South Africa but is also found in smaller quantities in Brazil, China and Switzerland.

It is a Green Epidote with inclusions of Pink Orthoclase Feldspar and occasionally Quartz of the silicates class of crystals. It comes in various shades of green with pink and sometimes white inclusions and is opaque in appearance. It may also contain Red Jasper and or granite and therefore the colour can vary depending on the minerals contained within it.

Unakite is a crystal that is attuned to the earth as Feldspar makes up a greater percentage of the surface of the Earth than any other stone. It has a grounding and calming effect which will benefit both home and workspaces making things seem more peaceful, a perfect crystal for Christmas, for example.

Traditionally, Unakite was given to children to act as a reminder that happiness and success can go hand-in-hand and that one does not need to be sacrificed for the other, a tradition that would not go amiss being reinstated now. It also helps with decision making, particularly when you feel like any decision you make would be a “Hobsons Choice” decision.

Unakite helps to balance the emotional, spiritual and mental energies, allowing to feel more centred. It is also believed to help gently release energy blockages from both past and current lives which may be inhibiting your spiritual and psychological growth and to encourage you to live in the present rather than in the past and forget and move on from outmoded beliefs. The element which is Pink Feldspar encourages you to love yourself in order for you to attract and maintain the love of others.

Unakite is not associated with any particular Goddess, however, green-coloured crystals honour Persephone, the Greek Goddess of Spring. She represents celebration and the Earth alive with the new growth of buds and plants associated with the season of spring.

Living Your Truth

Unakite is not associated with any particular Angel. However, Archangel Jophiel has a pink aura. Her name means “Beauty of God” and she is the Angel of Patience, Wisdom and Illumination and is also the patron angel of artists. Jophiel sees beauty in everything and everyone and will help you to do the same. You can ask for her help to heal negativity and chaos in your life.

Unakite is primarily associated with the Heart Chakra (Anahata), relating to love and compassion and the Thymus or Higher Heart Chakra (situated between the Throat and Heart Chakras), relating to awakening higher consciousness, living your personal truth and doing so with passion and conviction. Its secondary Chakra is the Third Eye or Brow Chakra (Ajna), relating to insight, intuition, awareness and guidance.

In crystal healing, Unakite is said to help with symptoms relating to the following illnesses and areas of the body: addictions, alcoholism, CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), colds and flu, heart, hormonal balance, infertility, menstrual cramps, menopausal symptoms, nausea and dizziness, reproductive organs, respiratory system, skin infections and irritations, strength and stamina and tissue health and healing.

It can also be used during the process of recovery from trauma, surgery or major illnesses as it is reported to help cells to "remember" a state of perfect health and to increase weight where required, following major weight loss through illness. Unakite can also protect against electromagnetic pollution from computers, Wi-Fi routers and mobile phones.

Emotionally, Unakite is said to assist with calming emotions and increase motivation, patience and tolerance.

Spiritually, Unakite is said to enhance intuition, meditation, past life recall and healing.

Unakite is not a traditional, ancient or modern birthstone for any of the Zodiac signs. However, it has been classed as a natural birthstone for the Zodiac sign Taurus (20th April - 20th May), presumably because of its connection to the Earth and the Goddess of Spring. Unakite is not on the anniversary list.

Meditation

Unakite is a perfect crystal for meditating with to ground and connect with the Earth and to open the Third Eye Chakra to enhance visualisation and psychic vision. It will give you a sense of being in the moment and is particularly beneficial when wishing to release pain and anger, or to let go of the past and remove other obstacles to personal growth whilst still allowing you to gain insight from your past to in order to guide your future.

Important to Know
